These movies cover some techniques for importing background images and mapping them on 3D shapes. It also covers how to unfold the images into unfolded images being in scale relative to the vector based equivalent.
Image import (NEW 9.55 minutes) Shows the Background image features. Shows how to import an image, make sure that it is in-scale relative to the 3D model, how to scale, rotate, skew, and deform it. It also shows how to position the image relative to the 3D model and relative to other images to allow creation of 3D models based on more than one image.
Image Balloon (7.51 minutes). illustrates how to model a balloon shape based on a background image, using the projection method, how to apply the image on the finished 3D model, and how to unfold the image.
The Image Unfolding-UV-maps (NEW 7.06 minutes) explains how to wrap a picture around a rounded object, in this case a sphere, using the UV-map templates provided with the TouchCAD 3.6.3 series or later.
Sail Mapping (5.52 minutes) illustrates the basic steps for importing a background image and mapping it on a sail. TouchCAD currently supports importing from Sails Science Sailmaker, Sail Pack Mouldslize, Azure, Quantum Spinnaker, Prosail, North Sails PAN, Autometrix VRML and point clouds in ASC II TAB format. The import methods may vary slightly between these packages.
