About TouchCAD and marine design.
TouchCAD is of course well-suited for marine design. some key features:
Dynamic cross sectioning, an absolute must for marine design. All control
points are on the objects and not vaguely beside it, which gives a superb
shape control and the ability to apply accurate dimensions to the controls.
You can simultaneously edit any number of control points located in any
number of individual objects, which in combination with full 3D dragging
from any view and the unique multifunction reshape box provides very quick
and efficient modeling. TouchCAD generates the lines automatically with
labels. Calculates various marine properties. Unlike most other marine designing
programs, TouchCAD does not have a limit to how many surfaces you can use
(including the educational version). This allows you to design all major
panels, trim and fit the panels to one another, calculate the combined weight
and center of gravity, unfold the panels, etc. within TouchCAD, and with
no expensive add-on programs. All rendered images below where completely
modeled in TouchCAD and the only external programs used is the rendering
program.

The Seajeep (Sjöjeepen) line of aluminum boats has evolved over nearly 25 years in a wide range of sizes (3.8 - 12 meters in length) and has been manufactured in well over 1000 copies. Design by Lundström Design.

Seajeep 53D, steering console version, aluminum.

Seajeep 53D, cabin version, aluminum.

A few sketches showing classic styling wooden boat design. Just for the fun of it...

"For those interested in 3D illustrations, I've done a fairly sophisticated sailboat model at http://www.wb-sails.fi/news/WBlines/europe/Europe.htm# with TC3 (VisualEurope). I did it as a tutorial to learn to use the program - could not have done it nearly as easily with any other product. Great program & great support from Lundstrom design,
//mikko, www.wb-sails.fi"
The following link shows VR version of the Europa:

The picture shows a nine meter long steam boat. The styling is intended to replicate the design such as it was around 1910 though it is not a direct copy of a particular design or model. The hull is also a bit wider than it was at that time to make it more practical to live in as it is a privately owned leisure boat. The hull is made of aluminum and so is the steam engine. The operation is also traditional with a fireplace and and a real steam boiler. It takes a while t get started but once up and running it is a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride. Design by Lundström Design

The picture shows a 10.5 and an 8 meter long sailboat, both made in aluminum. They illustrate that the ability to unfold just about anything increases the ability to use more complex shapes without running into problems with poor fitting. Designs by Lundström Design

The picture shows a twelve meter long speedboat. Twin 670 Hp SeaTech diesels and Castoldi water jets generate lots of speed. Design by Lundström Design

The aluminum boat above illustrates that TouchCAD can handle a very complex model where all major panels have been fitted in the 3D model and then unfolded to generate a cutting layout. It may appear to be a lot of parts but the picture is in fact not even showing all of them.
