Improved 3D sails import

TouchCAD can now import sails from a wider range of sail design programs. The purpose is to allow sail makers to apply high resolution images to 3D sail shapes and unfold them into in-scale ready to print images.

Currently supported formats are:

Sails Science ASC 3D format. Imported panels are ready to use 3D panels, and nesting made in Plotmaker is retained by TouchCAD. Seam allowances must be added though.

Quantum Sails Spinnaker now supports export of 3D spinnakers to TouchCAD (via DXF). Panels are exported as Polygon Meshes and are therefore valid surfaces. Unfolding settings must be applied, as well as nesting and adding seam allowances.

Sail Pack Mouldslize XYZ is now supported. Imported curves must be lofted into surfaces, unfolding settings must be applied, as well as nesting and adding seam allowances.

Azur can be imported via DXF. Imported curves must be lofted into surfaces, unfolding settings must be applied, as well as nesting and adding seam allowances.

North Sails PAN files can be imported. Panels are exported as valid surfaces. Unfolding settings must be applied, as well as nesting and adding seam allowances.

Autometrix VRML files can be imported. Panels are exported as valid surfaces. Unfolding settings must be applied, as well as nesting and adding seam allowances.

Prosail AER files can be imported. Panels are exported as valid surfaces. Unfolding settings must be applied, as well as nesting and adding seam allowances.

XYZ Point Clouds in ASC format can be imported. Such points must be combined into surfaces and be lofted into surfaces, unfolding settings must be applied, as well as nesting and adding seam allowances. << Return
